CONTRIBUTION
Interface Design & Art Direction
In 2010, BT went searching for designers to make an interface for controlling some software he'd written. Through asking around, he found me, and over the next 2 years, we worked on Stutter Edit. During that time, BT sold it to iZotope, and that's where I got introduced to them. In 2012, they needed more work for BT and came back for BreakTweaker.
BreakTweaker
The second project I worked on with BT and iZotope, BreakTweaker is the devious cousin to Stutter Edit. Dirtier and grittier, it's from a future where music doesn't sound anything like what we know it to be. Meant to build complex interweaving isorhythms combined with granular synthesis and assignable effect modulation, BreakTweaker is far more complex than Stutter Edit, but still performs with an interface that allows users to clearly control the software.

Stutter Edit
When I found out I'd be working on this, I just paused and thought "Yep, life is surreal right now"... This was fabled software that BT's fans had posted theories about across their forums; ideas, screenshots, rumors, video, etc. And here I am, tasked with making it usable FOR them. So that was where I started. I made this a highly tactile studio tool with holographic projectors that looked just like BT made a rack-mount synthesizer especially for you. The unique control mechanism of the double sided sliders gives producers not only unprecedented control over BT's entire library of stutter effects, but also everything they need to build even crazier audio experiences.

iZotope doesn't just need design for their interfaces. They also need marketing art for some of their products, and one of those products is Iris2, an effects plugin meant to give new life to older recordings and turn them into modern audio elements. Taking that as inspiration, I built out an abstract composition evoking data being processed into new, abstract forms.
